Say and tell are two commonly confused verbs. In this quick lesson we will try to understand them. Remember the past tense of say is said and the past tense of tell is told. Lets start with ‘Say’. Say is used to report someone's words. She said "I'm hungry. I'd like a burger." She said (that) she was hungry and would like a burger Say is followed by 'to' before the object : Did she actually say that to you? Say is used to ask about languages : Do you know how to say 'water' in Spanish?
